Yobe State governor, Mai Mala Buni, has commended the Sheikh Dahiru Usman Foundation for selecting the state to host the 1447 AH Annual Maulud.
The governor made the commendation on Saturday at August Studio during the closing of the three-day Maulud event. The event, known as “Makon Shehu,” took place at the Art and Cultural Centre in Damaturu and featured lectures and prayers.
The three-day annual Maulud, tagged, “Makon Shehu,” was organised by the Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Foundation. It featured lectures and prayers and brought together participants from within and outside the country.
At the closing ceremony, which took place at the Cultural Centre in Damaturu, Governor Mai Mala Buni, represented by his deputy, Alhaji Idi Barde Gubana, expressed gratitude to the foundation for selecting the state to host the event.
He said the Maulud aims to encourage Muslims to attain spiritual excellence and moral uprightness by emulating the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
Buni stated that his administration cherishes values such as religious education, peace, and unity, which are in tandem with the foundation’s objectives.
According to him, the state government produced and distributed a handwritten Warsh version of the Holy Qur’an.
He also noted that the state hosted the 2023 National Qur’an Recitation Competition, which received commendations from the National Organising Committee.
Earlier in his address, the Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Foundation Chairman, Sheikh Ibrahim Dahiru Bauchi, said the foundation was in the state for the Maulud anniversary of Sheikh Ahmadu Tijjani.
He appreciated Yobe State’s support for the programme and prayed for Yobe, Nigeria, and the world as a whole.
The event also featured supplications, prayers, recitations of the Holy Quran, and Qasida, among other presentations.
