Lamidi Apapa, the factional national chairman of the Labour Party of Nigeria, narrowly escaped being lynched on Wednesday at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal located within the premises of the Abuja Division of the Appeal Court.
In a viral video seen on social media, Apapa was seen being smuggled out of the court by police operatives as he was booed and called a thief by angry supporters of the Labour Party.
The incident occurred after the court earlier dismissed the names put forward as representatives of the party.
While others were speaking, Apapa stood up to identify himself as the national chairman of the opposition party.
The five-man panel of the court, led by Justice Haruna Tsammani, expressed displeasure with the scene created in the courtroom and made it clear that they would not recognise anyone claiming to represent the Labour Party.
