The Coordinated Arewa Youth Group has called on President Bola Tinubu to consider appointing a minister for the vacant Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Ministry from the North West geo-political zone.
The group said the president should consider what it called a large concentration of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters in the North West region.
The call was made in a statement signed by the North West zonal coordinator of the group, Balarabe Abdullahi, following an emergency meeting held in Kano on Thursday.
The meeting was held in the North West branch of the group where the vacant ministerial position, previously held by Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, who was appointed as the new national chairman of the ruling APC was discussed.
The statement called on the president to consider the North West zone, particularly Kano, which gave the highest votes to the president during the 2023 general election.
The group also proposed the appointment of a current member of the governing council of Federal College of Education (Technical), Potiskum, Yobe State, Nasiru Bala Aminu, popularly known as Ja’oji.
“He has been a mentor to many groups and associations, that have national development as their cardinal principles.
“When Hon Ja’oji is appointed as our next Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, we are assuring Mr President that he won’t regret the choice and confidence that would be reposed in him. He has all it takes for the position.
“The capacity is undoubtedly there, political will is always available and loyalty to the President will be his main thrust for engagement and commitment” part of the statement read.
