A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, Dr. Dennis Osahon Aikoriogie, has congratulated Governor Monday Okpebholo on the affirmation of his election victory by the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
The apex court, in a unanimous judgement delivered on Thursday, upheld the validity of Okpebholo’s election, effectively laying to rest months of legal contestation following the 2024 gubernatorial poll in Edo State.
Reacting to the judgement, Dr. Aikoriogie described the decision as “a resounding affirmation of the democratic will freely expressed by the people of Edo State,” and commended the judiciary for what he termed “a landmark ruling that reinforces the triumph of truth and justice over mischief and falsehood.”
He further noted that the verdict was not only a personal victory for Governor Okpebholo and the APC but also a major win for democracy in Nigeria.
“Your unwavering dedication, bold vision, and proven leadership have been validated once again,” he said, addressing the governor. “As you continue the task of rebuilding and transforming Edo State under the progressive ideals of our great party, may you be guided by wisdom and strengthened for the responsibilities ahead.”
Dr. Aikoriogie also expressed confidence in Governor Okpebholo’s ability to steer the state towards meaningful development, stating that “Edo is indeed in safe and capable hands.”
The Supreme Court ruling brings finality to the post-election legal battles and paves the way for the governor to consolidate on his administration’s agenda.
