An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Edo State, Dr. Dennis Osahon Aikoriogie, has urged Governor Monday Okpebholo to fulfill his promises made for political appointments and recognition to those who sacrificed towards his September 21, 2024 governorship election.

Aikoriogie, in a letter on Tuesday to the governor he personally endorsed, recounted his journey, including his initial aspiration to govern Edo State under the Labour Party and later the National Rescue Movement (NRM).

He claimed to have also  faced disappointment and betrayal in Labour Party and NRM parties but ultimately collapsed his structure to support Okpebholo’s candidacy.

Aikoriogie detailed his efforts in mobilising supporters, galvanising electorates, and securing endorsements from key groups, including the Yoruba community in Edo State.

He noted that he  accompanied Okpebholo to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters for the collection of his Certificate of Return.

The APC chieftain expressed his commitment to working with the governor to ensure the growth, unity, and prosperity of Edo State.

However, he also reminded Okpebholo of their understanding regarding political appointments, particularly his aspiration for the House of Representatives seat for Egor/Ikpoba Okha Federal Constituency.

“Your Excellency, in the spirit of equity, loyalty, and fairness, I humbly remind you of the critical role played by myself and my supporters in the struggle for this victory. I trust that you will honor the understanding reached with stakeholders like myself, particularly in recognizing the aspiration for the House of Representatives seat for Egor/Ikpoba Okha Federal Constituency, which remains a legitimate and burning desire among our people.

“Political appointments are not just rewards for loyalty; they are investments in the continued growth and stability of the APC and your administration. I am confident that Your Excellency will extend deserving recognition to those who fought gallantly and selflessly for the actualisation of your mandate.”

Aikoriogie concluded by expressing his confidence in Okpebholo’s leadership and praying for the governor’s success in steering Edo State towards enduring greatness.
