A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Asipa Ayodeji Adarabierin, has charged the new Federal Capital Territory (FCT) minister, Nyesom Wike, to bring about the needed growth and development to the nation.

He said the immediate past governor of Rivers State has what it takes to turn things around in the portfolio assigned to him and at the level he is presenting operating.

Adarabierin also described Governor Biodun Oyebanji developmental strides within 300 days in office as unprecedented.

The former APC House of Assembly aspirant for Ado Constituency 1 spoke at the 3rd annual awards and lecture of the Mature Minds Community Media where he and 27 others received awards of recognition for their contribution to the development of the society.

The convener of the event, Hon. Odunayo Bola Ehinafe, noted that the platform is serving as rallying points to politicians in the state irrespective of their political differences and affiliations.

Ehinafe, who decried fake news being ditched out on some of the social media,  called on the federal government to mandate bloggers and other social media manager to register with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) for proper monitoring and regulation.

‘‘Wike has to effect the changes he has been assigned to bring into the system. No doubt he is a round peg in the round hole and eminently qualified for the position and did well as Governor.

“He has paid his dues before, during and after the election of President Bola Tinubu of the APC. This is one of the expectation of an average politician that those who have worked should benefit, he had worked and he is benefitting. It is like a kind of accord between him and the president that has been fulfilled.

Speaking on the performance of Governor Oyebanji, he said practically there is no more opposition in the state because of the good deeds of Mr Governor.

“We also have  people from PDP, SDP and the rest coming to the APC. It shows that Mr Governor is doing well with all inclusive administration and touching lives in the grassroots, paying backlog of salary, pension and gratuity arrears and this is what governance is all about. We want to urge him to keep it up and invest massively in infrastructure and youth empowerment which he is also doing”.

Adarabierin said “the award came based on what we have been able to do in our community, the lives we had touched by reaching out to the less privileged and those mobilized politically. I am challenged by this and it will spur me to do more”.

The commandant of the Rapid Respond Squad (RRS) in the state, Mr Marcus Ogundola who was among  the awardees revealed that Ekiti was adjudged most peaceful and the best state with lesser death of innocent people recorded in 2022.

He said the magic wand for the feat was the way and manner the security architecture of the state is being deployed and managed.
