A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Hon Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has called on President Bola Tinubu to investigate the incessant collapse of the national grid.

While emphasising the importance of electricity to the economy during a chat with newsmen in Osogbo, Oyinlola noted that the grid collapse last Wednesday was the 12th such incident since January.

He said the president urgently needed to determine what was causing the grid’s frequent collapses and restore sanity to the power sector.

Oyintiloye, a defunct member of the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), also said that the grid collapsed 12 times within a year, which shows something is wrong.

“The country is blessed with all the resources needed to keep the grid running, so why collapse all the time?

“The embarrassment must stop, and sanity must be brought back to the power sector for the sake of our economy,” he esaid.

If an act of sabotage is involved, that will be revealed through investigation,” he said.

He also urged the minister of power, Adebayo Adelabu, to make more efforts to ensure that those responsible for maintaining the grid were up to their responsibilities.
