The All Progressives Congress (APC) has cleared all the 16 aspirants that obtained its nomination forms to contest the Ondo governorship primary slated for April 20, 2024.
This is according to a report of the seven-man Screening Committee chaired by Sen Joshua Lidani which was submitted to the APC Directorate of Organisation yesterday.
Those cleared include Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa; APC National Vice Chairman (South West) Isaac Kekemeke; Olusoji Adewale Ehinlanwo, a former member of the House of Assembly; Hon. Olugbenga Omogbemi Edema and Senator Jimoh Ibrahim.
Others are Funmilayo Waheed-Adekojo; Hon. Akinfolarin Mayo Samuel; former Commissioner for Finance, Hon. Adewale Akinterinwa; Olusola Oke, SAN; Ohunyeye Olamide Felix and Barr. Morayo Lebi.
Also given the nod for the APC primary polls are Garvey Oladiran Iyanjan; Prof. Francis Adebayo Faduyile, Judith Folakemi Omogoroye, Ifeoluwa Oyedele and Hon. Omo’Oba Okunjimi Odimayo.
LEADERSHIP Sunday reports that the APC had on Friday commenced the screening of the 16 governorship aspirants sequel to the inauguration of the Screening Committee and the Screening Appeal Committees by the APC Deputy National Organising Secretary, Nze Chidi Duru.
While the report of the Screening Committee has not been made public, it was gathered that the panel among others considered the aspirants eligibility, suitability, character assessment and support verification as prescribed by the Electoral Act and the guidelines for tbe election.
The committee, it was learnt noted that all the aspirants demonstrated willingness to support anyone of them who will emerge as the party’s candidate for the November 16 2024 Ondo State guber election.
It called on the party leadership to conduct a free, fair and credible primary election devoid of imposition of a candidate for the acceptability and support at the main election.
