The Media and Publicity Committee of the 2026 National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced plans to hold a global press conference on Thursday to outline preparations and expectations for the party’s upcoming convention.
The announcement was made on Tuesday by the co-chairman of the committee and minister of information and national orientation, Mohammed Idris, during a committee meeting in Abuja.
Idris said the briefing would serve as a platform to communicate the party’s plans to Nigerians and the international community.
“As part of our activities, a major press conference will be held on Thursday to unveil the expectations of the party to Nigerians,” he said.
He urged members of the committee to work in unity and remain committed to ensuring effective communication and the successful delivery of the convention.
“It is important that members of the committee realise that a lot of sacrifice is expected from all, in line with the party’s vision for a united and disciplined approach to communicating to Nigerians,” he stated.
The minister also emphasised the need for the party to uphold internal democratic principles, noting that the APC, as Africa’s largest political party, must continue to set standards in democratic practice.
“As party members, we must subject ourselves to a significant attribute of our President, who throughout his political career, and particularly in the last three years of his national leadership, has adhered to internal democratic processes,” Idris added.
He described the forthcoming convention, scheduled to hold from March 27 to 28, 2026, in Abuja, as a key milestone in strengthening the party’s structures and democratic credentials.
The APC National Convention is expected to bring together party leaders, delegates, and stakeholders from across the country as part of efforts to consolidate unity and chart the party’s direction ahead of future political engagements.
