The All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised concern that the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC) has not adequately prepared to conduct local government election, saying that existing gaps would allow manipulation of the election results.

Chairman of the Bauchi APC publicity committee, Saadu Umar, disclosed this in a statement issued to reporters in Bauchi yesterday.

“BSIEC is as unprepared as ever. It has so far convinced everyone that it’s not ready and is incapable of conducting a semblance of a credible election,” the statement said.

Umar alleged that the PDP-led administration in Bauchi manipulated the results of the local government election BASIEC conducted in 2020, adding that the results of the election were written and announced before ballot papers reached polling stations.

He called on the Bauchi State government to allow the electoral umpire freely conduct the election slated for August 17 to allow voters to choose leaders of their choice at the grassroots level.
