A frontline support group of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed Hon. Aminu Yakubu as interim national leader and Hon. Chris Okaeben as national secretary.
The group, APC Integrity Movement (ANIM), decided on the sequence of the resignation of its former national leader, Sadiq Fakai, from the party, citing concerns over its direction and deviation from its founding ideals.
ANIM deputy national leader (North) Abubakar Musa and deputy national leader (South), Dr Yetunde Adeneji, who stated this yesterday, said Fakai’s defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) was a personal political decision and does not alter the nomenclature and structure at all levels.
“We declare categorically that the Movement remains implacably committed to the APC ideologies and indisputably loyal to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, whose visionary leadership continues to restructure the Nigerian state and restore purpose to governance.
“By the Movement’s guiding principles to the prevailing development, the founding members of ANIM convened and resolved to constitute an interim National leadership to ensure seamless continuity. Consequently, Hon. Aminu Yakubu has been unanimously appointed as Interim National Leader, while Hon. Chris Okaeben assumes the role of National Secretary, both with immediate effect.
“ANIM remains the APC National Integrity Movement. We do not sway with the tides of personal ambition. We exist for a cause, and the cause remains alive,” they said.
