The APC Nationwide Tinubu Affirmation Team has called for fairness, equity and transparency in the conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries for the Oyi/Ayamelum Federal Constituency seat of Anambra State.

The group also appealed to members of the party’s electoral and screening committees to ensure a credible process ahead of the primary election scheduled for today.

Speaking in Abuja after what he described as the profiling and vetting of “outstanding lawmakers in the making,” the coordinator of the group, Adebayo Oyadeji, said Barr Nicholas Uchenna Odieli remained one of the best candidates to fly the party’s flag for the constituency.

Oyadeji said Odieli had distinguished himself through his commitment to the people even in his private capacity, adding that his support for the administration of President Bola Tinubu during difficult times also stood him out among other aspirants.

According to him, the 11th House of Representatives requires “versatile, resourceful, humane and bridge-building lawmakers” capable of attracting development to their constituencies.

He said, “Background checks carried out on him placed him ahead of others. We therefore appeal to the electoral committee, selection and election committee to ensure fairness, equity and use of discretion.

“The election of Odieli at the primaries will not only yield positive votes and victory for the APC, but also improve the party’s chances in the general elections because he has grassroots support and is endorsed by electorates capable of giving opposition parties a tough time.”
