Ijeomah Arodiogbu, South East zonal chairman and national vice chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has expressed satisfaction with the Abia State chapter of the party.
Arodiogbu made the assertion yesterday during a meeting with members of the chapter to assess its strength ahead of the APC’s congresses in Umuahia, the state capital
Explaining that he is on a tour of the five states in the zone for the mission, he further noted, “I want to tell you that I’m impressed with what I’ve seen today about the chapter.”
Reacting to a peaceful protest by a group at the gate of the meeting venue over allegations that he came to conduct a congress, he described the allegation as a lie.
Arodiogbu maintained that “I’ve not come here to organise any congress or to discredit anybody’s work, I’ve come to take the number and nothing but that”.
Earlier, the chapter chairman, Kingsley Ononogbu, said the APC has been growing stronger in the state since the last general election, despite being in opposition.
He related that at least 90 per cent of former members of the Peoples Democratic Party, including a former governor and his entire family, have joined the APC.
Ononogbu added that in addition, the chapter had succeeded in reconciling the leading stakeholders of the chapter, and they have been contributing financially to running the chapter
