APC Primaries: I Received Reports Of Diversion Of Materials In Benue – Akume

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and former Benue State Governor, George Akume, has said he received reports alleging the diversion of All Progressives Congress (APC) election materials during the party’s recently concluded primaries in Benue State.

Akume described the reports as disturbing, warning that such incidents could undermine confidence in the party’s internal democratic processes.

He called on security agencies and party officials to investigate the allegations and ensure that anyone found culpable is held accountable.

However, the SGF noted that he would not dwell extensively on the matter, saying he was not physically present during the exercise in the state.

“I was not here during the last election, but I received several reports about diversion of materials and other issues. I do not want to comment extensively because I was not physically present,” he said.

Akume also appealed to APC members in Benue State to remain calm and united, urging them to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for a return ticket in the forthcoming presidential primary.

Speaking with journalists at the Makurdi Air Force Base Airport ahead of the APC presidential primary, he called on aggrieved aspirants and their supporters to maintain peace and avoid actions that could deepen internal divisions within the party.

He stressed the need for unity within the party as it prepares for upcoming electoral processes.
