APC Professional Forum Postpones Policy Dialogue

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Professional Forum has postponed its policy roundtable slated for Thursday April 24 in Abuja.

The event was meant to provide the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Wale Edun and his Health and Social Welfare counterpart Professor Mohammed Ali Pate, a platform to present the achievements of the President Bola Tinubu administration in the last two years before a panel of discussants to assess the administration’s mid-term scorecard.

But announcing the decision to postpone the roundtable, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of APC Professional Forum, Dr Isa Yuguda explained in a statement that the two ministers would be in Washington DC attending the Spring meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

He said: “We were aware that from April 21 to 26, global economic leaders would converge on the US for the World Bank/IMF Spring Meetings, but we were hopeful that the Finance and Health Ministers would still make out time to, not only make presentations at our policy roundtable but, also take part in panel discussions.

 

 

“But it has now been confirmed that the Nigerian delegation has a series of events and meetings scheduled for the same day in Washington for which the presence of both Mr Edun and Professor Pate would be pivotal, so we have no choice but to defer our event to a later day.

 

 

“We agee that their engagements at an international forum like the World Bank/IMF spring meetings are important in Nigeria’s quest to build international partnership for its economic and health policies.

 

 

“So we are hopeful that highlights of the Nigerian delegation’s participation at the meetings will be some of the issues that would be discussed at the new date for APC Professional Forum’s policy roundtable.” No new date has been fixed for the event.
