The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced new dates for its much-anticipated National Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings, moving them from December 15–16 to December 18–19, 2025.
The adjustment was contained in an official notice titled “Change of Meeting Dates,” issued by the party’s National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Basiru, and shared on his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Sunday.
According to the statement, the National Caucus meeting will now be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 6:00 p.m., while the NEC meeting will take place on Friday, December 19, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. Both sessions were scheduled to be held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
“All members are by this invitation to TAKE NOTICE of the meeting in accordance with Article 11.5 of the Constitution,” the notice read.
The party explained that the meetings were being convened in line with Articles 12.3 and 13.3 of the APC Constitution, which define the composition and responsibilities of the National Caucus and the NEC, respectively.
The APC National Caucus includes top-ranking party leaders such as the President and Vice President of Nigeria, past and present APC-affiliated presidents and vice presidents, serving and former governors, and zonal representatives.
The NEC, regarded as the party’s highest decision-making body, comprises the National Chairman, Deputy National Chairmen (North and South), National Secretary, Deputy National Secretary, National Legal Adviser, Deputy Legal Adviser, National Treasurer, Deputy Treasurer, and several other key officers, including state chairmen, zonal representatives, and members elected by the National Convention.
The rescheduling came just days after the initial dates were announced and is expected to be the party’s first major leadership gathering in over a year. However, the official notice did not provide reasons for the change in schedule.
