The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the temporary closure of its National Secretariat in Abuja as a mark of honour to late former President Muhammadu Buhari who was first elected president on the platform of the party.
In a statement issued on Monday by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the APC said the Secretariat will remain closed until Thursday, July 17, 2025, as a mark of respect during the national mourning period.
The APC urged members and supporters nationwide to observe the mourning period with solemn reflection and prayers.
“The All Progressives Congress (APC) announces the closure of its National Secretariat in Abuja in honour of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR,” the statement read.
He added, “As directed by the Acting National Chairman of our great Party, Hon. Bukar Dalori, the Party’s National Secretariat will be closed starting today, Monday, July 14, and will reopen on Thursday, July 17, 2025.
“We urge Party faithful to use this period of national mourning for quiet reflection and prayers for the repose of the soul of our departed leader.”
Buhari, who served as Nigeria’s civilian president from 2015 to 2023 and earlier as military Head of State from 1984 to 1985, died on Sunday in London after a prolonged, undisclosed illness.
