APC Stakeholders Seek Power Shift To Kajuru

Stakeholders in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Chikun local government area of Kaduna State have called for power shift to Kajuru local government area in the forthcoming Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency by-election.

They also declared support for Hon. Fidelix Joseph Bagudu from Kajuru to emerge as the party’s candidate.

The stakeholders led by Hon. Markus Zarmai Yari made their position known after a press conference yesterday, stressing that it was only fair and politically expedient for Kajuru to produce the next House of Representatives member, following the demise of Hon. Abubakar Adams Ekene who hailed from Chikun.

They argued that allowing Kajuru to produce the APC flagbearer would not only deepen inclusiveness and equity in the constituency but also strengthen the party’s prospects ahead of the crucial August 16 by-election.

“We are passionately appealing to our great party to zone the ticket to Kajuru. This will cement the bond of brotherhood and guarantee wider electoral support across both local governments.

“As stakeholders, we have unanimously endorsed Hon. Fidelix Joseph Bagudu as the preferred candidate, because he is a grassroots politician with the capacity to consolidate the gains of the party and deliver robust representation at the National Assembly,” Yari said.

The group applauded President Bola Tinubu for his recent state visit, particularly for commissioning the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Specialist Hospital in Millennium City, Kujama, Chikun LGA, and approving landmark projects like the Kaduna Light Rail and Birnin Gwari road reconstruction.

They also reaffirmed their total support for Tinubu’s re-election bid and that of Governor Uba Sani, stressing that their people-oriented programmes had continued to resonate positively with the masses.

The press conference, attended by several prominent party figures in Chikun, ended with a strong plea to the APC leadership to heed their demand, insisting that the decision would foster unity and enhance the party’s electoral fortunes in the constituency.
