The League of APC Support Groups in Bauchi State has urged former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, to accept the outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election in the state, which produced former Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar (SAN) as the party’s candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
The group made the call on Saturday in Bauchi while reacting to a recent press conference by the Tuggar Foundation, led by Shehu Barau Ningi, which questioned the conduct of the primary election and alleged that no valid APC governorship primary was held in the state.
Addressing journalists, chairman of the League, Malam Umar Faruk Bala, popularly known as Sufi, rejected the allegation, insisting that the primary election was conducted in accordance with the APC Constitution and the Electoral Act 2022 (as amended).
He said delegates and party stakeholders from across the state’s 20 local government areas participated in the process, which, according to him, resulted in the emergence of Abubakar as the party’s governorship candidate.
Bala also claimed that party officials, security agencies and other stakeholders monitored the exercise, describing the allegation that no primary election was held as unfounded.
According to him, the outcome of the primary had been collated and submitted to the appropriate organs of the party.
The group called on aggrieved party members to seek redress through the party’s internal mechanisms rather than making public allegations capable of worsening divisions within the APC.
It also appealed to party members to embrace reconciliation and work towards the success of the APC in the 2027 general election.
The League further cautioned against actions it said could deepen internal divisions in the party ahead of the polls.
The Tuggar Foundation had earlier rejected the emergence of Abubakar as the APC governorship candidate, maintaining that no valid governorship primary election was conducted in Bauchi State.
