The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ode-Aye Ward 1 of Okitipupa local government area of Ondo State has suspended Engr. Folake Omogoroye, a female governorship aspirant in the last primary election held on April 20, 2024.

Omogoroye is the latest former governorship aspirant to be suspended by her party, coming after similar disciplinary action taken against the Ondo South Senator, Jimoh Ibrahim.

Suspended alongside Omogoroye are four ward executives of the party, including Ayesan Tunde, the Organising Secretary; Jemiken Seyi, Assistant Public Relations Officer; Adebayo Omobayo, Assistant Welfare Secretary and Eweje Omotayo, Assistant Treasurer.

Omogoroye’s suspension was contained in a letter signed by the APC Chairman in the ward, Akinsowola Awodele, supported by twelve other exco members and made available to newsmen Monday evening in the state.

According to the letter, Omogoroye was suspended for “anti-party activities and flagrant disobedience for the constituted authority of the party”.

Recall that the female governorship aspirant, alleging irregularities, had approached the court to seek the cancellation of the governorship primary election that produced Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa as the candidate of the party.
