The Allied People’s Movement (APM) has appealed to governments at all levels to prioritise the welfare of Nigerians, insisting that citizens deserve good governance amid the country’s prevailing economic and social challenges.

In a statement issued on Tuesday to commemorate the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the party said the interest and well-being of the people must take precedence over partisan politics and political calculations.

The statement, signed by Dr Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, urged political leaders to focus on policies and programmes that improve Nigerians’ living conditions.

According to the party, Nigerians yearn for responsive leadership that puts citizens first, especially at a time of economic hardship and growing insecurity.

“APM urges governments at all levels to prioritise the welfare of the people. Nigerians desire and deserve good governance. The interest of the people supersedes partisan politics,” the statement said.

The party noted that its “People First” ideology reflects its commitment to citizen-centred governance, adding that the approach has been demonstrated in states where the party currently holds influence, including Bauchi State and Oyo State.

While congratulating Muslims on the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, APM urged Nigerians to embrace the virtues of faith, sacrifice, obedience and compassion as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.

The party also called on citizens to pray for the nation as political activities ahead of the 2027 general election gather momentum nationwide.

APM warned politicians against engaging in violence and electoral malpractice, stressing that Nigeria’s democracy can only thrive when the sanctity of the ballot box is protected.

“Power belongs to Allah, and He gives it to whoever He wishes. Politicians should therefore shun violence and other electoral malpractices as we strive to build a decent democratic society that respects the sanctity of the ballot box,” the statement added.

The party further declared its readiness to play a major role in reshaping the country through what it described as an ongoing alliance ahead of the 2027 elections.
