“It is in this regard that the Arewa Youth Forum is delighted to share the outstanding achievements of the Sokoto State Government, led by Governor Ahmed Aliyu, across various sectors. From infrastructure development to social welfare, education, economic growth, health, governance, and environmental sustainability, the administration has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to improving the lives of Sokoto’s citizens,” it stated.

Regarding infrastructure, the AYF noted that the state government has made significant strides in providing clean drinking water to rural communities, successfully drilling 25 new solar-powered boreholes across Munki, Marnona, Dinawa, Lugu, and Wurno.

“This N1.2 billion project has transformed the lives of thousands, enhancing educational opportunities and overall quality of life,” it added.

The prominent group highlighted that in terms of social welfare and empowerment, the Governor has positively impacted many citizens.

“Governor Aliyu’s administration has distributed 24,734 bags of rice to support vulnerable communities, with plans to procure 300 trucks of rice at subsidised rates. The government has also provided relief items to flood-affected areas, demonstrating its dedication to the welfare of its citizens,” the group stated.

Commending the Governor’s commitment to education, the AYF noted that the state government has announced a remarkable N150 million as counterpart funding for the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project.

“Additionally, Governor Aliyu’s administration has established Gender-Based Violence Prevention and Response Committees to create a safe and conducive learning environment for female students,” the statement added.

In discussing economic and industrial development, the group mentioned that the state government has attracted significant investments, including the grand opening of Davkem Restaurant and Conference Hall.

Governor Aliyu’s administration has also implemented investor-friendly policies and increased Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) to support its development agenda.

On health and human services, the statement highlighted that the Sultan Foundation for Peace and Development (SFPD) has donated N1.7 billion worth of drugs and medical supplies to enhance healthcare delivery in Sokoto and Kebbi States.

“The First Lady, Hajiya Fatima Ahmed Aliyu, has championed critical issues surrounding family planning and reproductive health,” the statement noted.

It stressed that regarding governance and administration, the state government has approved a supplementary budget of N119 billion, allocating significant funds for vital projects.

“Governor Aliyu’s administration has demonstrated transparency and accountability in governance, fostering a business-friendly atmosphere and engaging stakeholders to enhance dialogue.”

Furthermore, the group explained that in terms of environmental sustainability, the state government has launched an ambitious tree-planting initiative aimed at planting one million trees to combat desertification and promote sustainability.

“This programme will not only restore the state’s natural landscape but also foster community involvement,” the group assured.

On security, it stated that the state government has unveiled a strategic initiative to enhance security across rural areas, providing 20 Hilux vans and 710 motorcycles to the Community Guard Corps.

“Governor Aliyu’s administration has demonstrated a commitment to ensuring peace and security for all citizens.

“We commend Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s administration for its remarkable progress and dedication to the welfare of Sokoto’s citizens. The Arewa Youth Forum looks forward to continued collaboration and support for initiatives that promote economic growth, education, and community well-being,” the statement concluded.

Pointing out current and ongoing activities, the AYF listed reviving moribund industries and enhancing security as commendable efforts.

“Governor Aliyu’s administration is committed to reviving all moribund industries in Sokoto State to boost economic growth and tackle unemployment.

“The state government has procured over 130 vehicles, including Buffalo and Hilux models, and 700 patrol motorcycles to enhance security,” Zagi stated.

In conclusion, the group said, “We at the Arewa Youth Forum take pride in noting that the Governor’s achievements are a testament to his visionary leadership, dedication, and tireless efforts to serve the people of Sokoto State.

“We believe that his leadership style and policies will continue to inspire and motivate others to work towards the development of our great nation.”

They therefore urged the Governor to continue on this path of progress and service to the people, assuring him of the AYF’s support and prayers as he navigates the challenges of governance.
