The Arewa Youth Assembly has commended the Commission Chief Executive (CCE) of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, Engr. Gbenga Komolafe, for surpassing the Commission’s expected revenue target by 49 per cent.
In a statement issued to journalist yesterday in Abuja by the group’s speaker, Mohammed Salihu expressed his elation over the achievement, emphasizing that Engr. Gbenga Komolafe has significantly elevated the Commission’s performance as its pioneer Chief Executive.
Salihu noted that Komolafe achieved this feat without a blueprint or a predecessor to guide him, making the accomplishment even more commendable, especially amidst challenges such as global energy transition pressures impacting oil and gas investments.
“Achieving such a milestone does not come by mere luck or coincidence,” Danlami remarked. “It takes a lot of hard work, commitment, skill, strength, bravery, and strategy—all of which Engr. Gbenga has invested extensively.
“As the CCE of a regulatory commission, he has successfully blocked financial leakages and opened the industry for massive investments, despite the divestment of some oil and gas assets.”
The group urged Nigerians to remain patient and optimistic, stating that Engr. Gbenga is poised to achieve even greater milestones.
His initiatives, such as the “Project One Million Barrels Per Day,” bid rounds, the “Drill or Drop” policy, and other mandates outlined by the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), have been instrumental in driving progress in the industry.
“Since the inception of the Commission under Engineer Komolafe’s leadership, its contributions to government revenue have been remarkable,” he said. “He has become an indispensable pillar for the growth of the oil and gas sector and a significant boost to the nation’s economy.”
While commending Gbenga Komolafe for his transformational leadership and restructuring of the upstream oil and gas sector, the group also congratulated Nigerians for having such a dedicated, hardworking, selfless, transparent, and trustworthy leader driving improvements in revenue generation and the country’s economy.
