The police also revealed that the robbers were behind multiple violent crimes across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

LEADERSHIP findings showed that the robbers were linked to series of robberies in Apo, Zuba and Gwagwalada, where the police had been on their trail.

Findings revealed that the group sourced arms and ammunition from a supplier based in Niger Republic.

Force spokesman CSP Benjamin Hundeyin yesterday paraded 12 suspects who were arrested over the robbery.

Hundeyin  said the decision to parade them publicly stemmed from the widespread public concern surrounding the September 29 incident at Unique Apartments, Gishiri Village, Katampe District, Abuja.

He said, “Why we paraded these suspects despite our policy against it is because this is a public interest incident and we want Nigerians to see that the NPF delivered on its promise to get these suspects arrested.

“This is not just an arrest, we won’t stop here, these suspects will most definitely be prosecuted. Justice must be served to Miss Somtochukwu and Mr Barnabas.”
