Army Condoles With Adamawa Over Killings

The Theatre Commander of the Joint Task Force Northeast, Operation Hadin Kai, Maj Gen Abdulsalam E. Abubakar, has visited Adamawa State to conduct an operational appraisal aimed at rejigging the security architecture in the state.

Abubakar, who was received at Government House, Yola, by the state deputy governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, said the visit also aimed to improve response time and early warning mechanisms in the state.

He used the visit to console the government and people of the state over the recent killing of innocent citizens by insurgents in some parts of the state on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Waidi Shaibu.

“I want to convey condolences to the people of Adamawa state over the recent loss of innocent citizens. It is a serious concern, and that is why I am in the state under the directive of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Waidi Shaibu.

“We are in a position to conduct an operational appraisal to see how to rejig security architecture, especially with a view to improving response time and having early warning mechanisms.

Earlier, the state Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa George Farauta, reiterated the government’s commitment to protecting its citizens, following recent security challenges in the state.

Farauta thanked the military delegation for identifying with the state and reiterated the government’s continued support to keep the state safe.

She also assured the government of continuous support and collaboration with the security outfits.

 

According to her government, it will continue investing in human capital development and ICT to improve the state’s security situation.
