Ancient Religion Society of African Descent International Council, (ARSADIC) has called on the Inspector General of Police to investigate the role of Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Ebunoluwa Adelesi in the imbroglio between traditional religion adherent and Islamic clerics (Ulamas) in Kwara State.

The President of ARSADIC, Chief Ifagbenusola Olalekan Ojeleke who made the call yesterday at a press conference held at Oduduwa House, Ile-Ife, Osun State charging the IGP to impose sanctions on the CP and whosoever was found culpable in the alleged humiliation, harassment, intimidation of adherents of traditional religion in Kwara state.

Ifagbenusola equally charged President Bola Tinubu to caution all stakeholders in the skirmishes between adherents of the two religions reminding him of his avowed pledge to protect the rule of law of the nation.

They also reminded him of the roles traditional religion adherent played in the peaceful and successful conduct of the general election and subsequent transition to another civilian regime.

Rising from a worldwide meeting of the leadership of ASADIC, including Council of Elders, Board of Trustee at Ile-Ife, Ifagbenusola maintained that the constitution of Nigeria guaranteed freedom of religion adding that violation of such rights by whoever should attract appropriate sanction.

He insisted that the attack on traditional worshipers by Muslim Ulamas which led to the arrest of Mr Adegbola Abdulazeez, aka Tani Olorun, Madam Efunsetan Abebi Aniwura, Olorisa, aka Iya Osun, Chief Ademola Olawoore, aka Baba Tede in Kwara state is a total violation of rights to freedom of worship.

He reminded stakeholders of the consequences of the religious crisis adding that adherents of traditional religion that celebrates Isese are spread all over the world, adding that attempts to deny them of their fundamental rights will no doubt attract resistance which should be prevented now.
