Arsenal are reportedly on the verge of breaking their club record for a player sale, with Gabriel Martinelli edging closer to a move to Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal.

The Premier League champions are negotiating a deal worth around £60 million for the Brazilian winger, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Romano reported on X that Al Hilal had made direct contact with Arsenal over Martinelli, adding that the 25-year-old had opened the door to a move to the Saudi Arabian club.

Martinelli is reportedly Al Hilal’s preferred target ahead of other options, including Arsenal-linked Portuguese winger Pedro Neto and Francisco Conceição.

The Brazil international has already turned down interest from Turkish giants Galatasaray, who were prepared to offer around £45 million for his services.

However, Martinelli has reportedly given the green light to Al Hilal as he prepares to bring his Arsenal career to an end.

Should the proposed £60 million transfer be completed, Martinelli would become the most expensive player ever sold by Arsenal.

The current record belongs to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who joined Liverpool for £35 million in 2017, while Nicolas Anelka’s move to Real Madrid for around €35 million in 2000 also ranks among the club’s biggest outgoing transfers.

A £60 million sale would therefore represent a significant financial return for Arsenal as they reshape their squad ahead of the new season.
