Former Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard claimed Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta would have been sacked if he had gone through a similar situation as the Blues’ manager.

Arteta had no prior coaching experience at the highest level until he was offered the chance to lead his former club.

Two eighth-place finishes later, Arteta is now finding his feet and seems to be building a team to match his vision.

Lampard highlighted the difficulty modern managers face when trying to implement their plans and how little time they are given to prove their worth in the dugout.

During a recent interview on the Unfiltered Podcast, Lampard said: “I think Arteta is a great example. Look at the tough times he had.  He was trying to find a formation and he had to compromise a lot and you lose some games and people don’t trust the process.
