Delta State’s athletes who participated in the Asaba 2022 National Sports Festival have started receiving the long-awaited cash rewards.

Delta State finished as champions of the Asaba 2022 National Sports Festival, and this gesture reinforces the state’s position as a leading light in Nigerian sports.

The State Sports Commission Chairman, Hon. Onoriode Oborevwori, described the payment as a demonstration of Governor Oborevwori’s unwavering support for sports development in the state and the fulfillment of the pledge made by the state government.

He noted that the gesture reflected the governor’s “MORE Agenda,” which prioritized meaningful development, opportunities for all, and enhanced welfare for the people of Delta State, including athletes.

He lauded Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for redeeming the outstanding financial commitment and described it as timely and promise fulfilled.

“This payment is a clear testimony of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s love for sports and his determination to ensure athletes are well cared for.

“Our sports men and women can now attest to the fact that this administration is committed to their welfare and future.”
