Nigerian singer Ahmed Ololade, a.k.a. Asake, has officially parted ways with Olamide’s YBNL Nation, putting an end to months of speculation about his future with the record label.

The award-winning artist announced his exit with the release of his latest single, ‘Why Love’, under his newly established label, Giran Republic.

While rumours of a possible fallout between Asake and YBNL boss Olamide had been making the rounds, the singer had seemingly quelled the speculation with his previous track, ‘Military’, which paid tribute to Olamide and his influence on his career.

LEADERSHIP recalls that Asake joined YBNL Nation in February 2022, a move that propelled him to mainstream success. Later that year, in July 2022, he secured a distribution deal with Empire, further expanding his reach in the global music industry.

Despite his departure from YBNL, Asake’s partnership with Empire has remained intact, ensuring continuity in the distribution of his music.

Neither Asake nor Olamide has publicly addressed the split in detail, but industry insiders suggest that the singer’s decision to establish his own label signalled a new chapter in his career.
