The Special Investigative Committee Set up by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) to look into the remote and immediate causes of a brutal physical assault on its president, Atiku Isah, last year, has exonerated President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi, of any complexity.

The committee however asked Atiku to tender an apology to the president’s son for wrongfully accusing him of masterminding the assault he suffered at the hands of some hoodlums.
The committee was set up by the Senate of the student’s association and was chaired by Muhammad Imam Inuwa from Bayero University, Kano State. Its secretary was Augustine Ojonukoahiu Sunday of Prince Abubakar Audu University, Ayangba in Kogi State.

The committee said the embattled students union president acted on hearsay from certain individuals without any credible evidence to support his claims.

“The independent verification conducted by our committee on the claims and representation attributed to those individuals that the NANS President acted upon to indict Seyi Tinubu and the minister of youth development were unverified and not reliable,” part of the statement made available to LEADERSHIP on Tuesday read.

The committee which bars the NANS President from further comments against Seyi Tinubu and the minister of youth development as well as the Department of State Services (DSS), directed him to tender an unreserved apology to the president’s son and the minister without further delay.

“We also called on the minister of youth development to broker peace by taking the NANS President to meet with Seyi and resolve the issue in the interest of peace and unity of Nigerian youths,” the committee added.

Last year, the President of NANS, Atiku Isah, was allegedly abducted from a hotel in Abuja and taken into a bushy area within the city where he was tortured by suspected hoodlums.

He was also arrested by the security operatives after the crisis after he alleged the president’s son was the mastermind behind his abduction. The action attracted public condemnation from many quarters.
