Imo State House of Assembly has called on Governor Hope Uzodimma to save Alaocha community in Eziama Okwe, Onuimo local government area of the state from the catastrophic erosion menace which has destroyed its major link road.
In a motion sponsored by Hon James Esile Uba, the lawmaker representing Onuimo constituency in the assembly, he noted that the people of Alaocha are mainly farmers and they earn their living from farm and agricultural produce and use the link road to export these produce to other local government areas of the state.
“But unfortunately, agriculture and other socio-economic activities have suffered a devastating and terrible set-back due to frightening erosion menace in the community,” he stated.
Hon Uba had last year moved a motion for the adoption of Governor Uzodimma as the sole candidate for the November 11 Imo governorship election and the governor became victorious in all the 27 local government areas.
The lawmaker stressed that more than five neighbouring villages in Onuimo are affected by the erosion menace on the road which also links Ideato South local government area in the state and extends to Anambra State.
