The National Association of Seadogs in collaboration with Chinedu Ogah Foundation and Amanda Marga Universal Relief Team (AMURT) has handed-over a hand pump borehole to the Abakaliki Abattoir community.

The hand-pump borehole from the association was dug to improve the hygiene condition of the abattoir which is in a bad condition thereby posing health challenges to the consumers of cow meat in the state.

President of the association, Dr Ugwu Okereke said the gesture was in line with the policy of the National Association of Seadogs to give back to the society and was done to help improve the hygiene of the meat market.

Dr Ugwu said the provision of water was very important and urged them to protect and make good-use of the borehole adding that the well dug by the meat sellers was not conducive and most times, animals also drank from the well.

The vice-president of the association, Mr Kingsley Tanyi said they were out to help improve the society, stating that the well-water being used in the abattoir was not clean enough hence the borehole.
