Association of Proprietors of Private Media Establishment of Nigeria (APPMEN) plans to host its 2026 conference to strengthen Nigeria’s private media and digital content ecosystem as a catalyst for national development, responsible storytelling and economic growth.

The conference, themed “APPMEN: Voice, Vision, Purpose,” is scheduled for Thursday, 24th September, 2026, at AIG Aishatu Abubakar Baju Hall, beside TETFund Headquarters in Maitama, Abuja.

The organisers said the event will bring together media proprietors, digital content creators, media entrepreneurs, policymakers, government officials, corporate organisations, development partners, and other key stakeholders to deliberate on the future of Nigeria’s evolving media landscape.

APPMEN stated that the conference is designed to reposition private media and digital content creation as strategic tools for national development, employment generation, responsible communication, and economic transformation.

The association noted that in an era where digital influence spreads rapidly, building sustainable media institutions requires structure, capacity development, strategic partnerships, and responsible leadership.

The event will feature two major sessions.

The morning conference session will focus on capacity building and policy engagement. Participants will benefit from masterclasses facilitated by legal experts, media scholars, and industry practitioners. In contrast, a panel discussion titled “The Future of Nigerian Media: Policy, Platforms and Purpose” will examine emerging opportunities and challenges within the industry. The session will also include interactive discussions, stakeholder commitments and the adoption of a communiqué.

The evening gala and cocktail session will celebrate excellence in the media industry through an investiture ceremony, the presentation of awards to distinguished Nigerians, the unveiling of ambassadors for The Leadership We Want Campaign, and the official launch of the maiden edition of APPMEN Magazine.

The association also called on the Federal Government, state governments, regulatory agencies, corporate organisations, development partners and media support institutions to partner with it in delivering the conference.

According to APPMEN, support from partners and sponsors will help fund capacity-building programmes for content creators, legal aid initiatives, safety programmes for media practitioners, and platforms that promote Nigerian stories to both local and global audiences.
