The Association of Proprietors of Private Media Establishment of Nigeria (APPMEN) has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting peace, stability and responsible media leadership, while expressing solidarity with Nigerians affected by the country’s security challenges.
In a statement made available to journalists in Abuja yesterday, APPMEN expressed solidarity with Nigerians affected by insecurity and reaffirmed its commitment to promoting peace, stability and responsible media leadership.
According to the statement, “the postponed APPMEN/Content Creators 2026 two-day retreat was originally scheduled to be held from July 9 to 11 at the Obudu Cattle Ranch Resort in Cross River State.
The association said the decision followed a careful assessment of the country’s security situation, stressing that the safety and well-being of its members and participants remained its highest priority.
Under the new arrangement, the programme will now hold as the Aso APPMEN/Content Creators 2026 One-Day Conference on 24th September 2026, in Abuja. The event will be hosted by the FCT Abuja Chapter of the council.
The conference, themed “APPMEN: Voice, Vision, Purpose,” will bring together media proprietors, content creators and other stakeholders to examine the role of the media in shaping national narratives and promoting patriotic communication.
The event will also feature the investiture of the Grand Patron, Honorary National Patrons and The Nigeria We Want Ambassadors, alongside National Recognition Awards for Nigerians who have made outstanding contributions to national development across different sectors.
According to the association, the participants will also engage in strategic sessions designed to equip media owners and content creators with the skills needed to promote responsible, purposeful storytelling.
To coordinate preparations for the conference, APPMEN constituted a planning committee headed by Mr Felix Onuah, the FCT Council coordinator.
Other members are Pastor Bossey Edward Idogho, who will serve as the secretary of the planning committee, and Elder David Omoru, the FCT Council treasurer.
“The National Secretariat would supervise the planning process, while the newly appointed officers had pledged to ensure a successful conference,” the association said.
APPMEN reiterated its commitment to strengthening the private media industry, amplifying responsible voices and promoting narratives that support nation-building.
It also called on stakeholders, media partners and content creators to participate in the Abuja conference as part of efforts to advance a new agenda for patriotic communication.
