Joint National Association of Persons With Disabilities (JNAPWD), Abia State chapter has indicated interest to play active roles in the present administration to move the state forward.

The chapter stated this, yesterday, in a congratulatory message to the governor, Alex Otti and his deputy governor, Ikechukwu Emetu which was made available to LEADERSHIP Friiday in the state capital, Umuahia.

The statement by the chairman, Wisdom Kalu Okechukwu, and the secretary, Ugochukwu Dike expressed optimism that the administration will have a positive impact on the members and the people in general.

Meanwhile, the director, Amudo Itumbuzor Integrated Health Foundation, Rev Kenneth Nwubani has counseled psychiatric student nurses to be civil and reasonable in their relationship with mental patients.

Nwubani stated this while receiving the first set of 75 nurses from School of Midwifery, Amachara undergoing training at School of Psychiatric Nursing, Umunnato to Amudo Itumbuzor Rehabilitation Centre, near Bende, Abia State.

Admonishing the students to avoid discrimination and stigma against the inmates, Nwubani reiterated the commitment of the centre to continue to rehabilitate mentally-ill destitutes in the state.

He used the forum to commend the state-born psychiatry specialist and founder of Bloom Health Foundation, Dr Ureh Lekwauwa for the provision of an ultramodern hostel block for psychiatric nurses at the centre.
