An Ilorin – based Islamic scholar, Dr Saddam Hussein Folorunsho Fagba, has hailed the Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for returning peace to Ilorin shortly on his assumption of office in 2019.
He recalled with nostalgia how Governor AbdulRazaq swiftly eradicated thuggery which was pronounced in Ilorin prior to his election as the governor of the state.
Fagba, an Associate Professor of Law at the University of Ilorin, spoke during the second edition of AA Ramadan lecture held at the AGF AbdulRazaq’s residence, Surulere, Ilorin, last Saturday.
He said the Ilorin people were highly impressed by the governor’s singular act of restoring peace and tranquility not only to Ilorin, but to all the nook and cranny of the state.
Fagba also gave the Sardauna of Ilorin a pat on the back for what he described as unprecedented infrastructural development across the state.
Speaking to the theme of the lecture:”
Our identity as Ummah – a collective responsibility,” Fagba said Islam is the legacy of Ilorin.
He blamed youths decadence on parental neglect, lamenting that:” Parents don’t take training of their children seriously.”
In his own lecture, the national missioner of Ansarul Islam Society of Nigeria, Sheikh Hanafi Ayara corroborated the earlier speaker by saying:” Everything about Ilorin is Islam “.
He stressed the need for parents to return their children to Madrasa ( Arabic schools) for proper moral upbringing.
Sheikh Ayara also enjoined the people of Ilorin to love one another and unite as their forefathers did in laying solid foundation for the family.
“Ilorin should unite as one. We should return to our old ways of doing things,” he emphasised.
The senior adviser and counselor to Kwara State governor, Alh Saadu Salahu, said the Ramadan lecture series are being organised in recognition of the governor’s avowed commitment to the wellbeing of the people and the growth of the state.
In a brief remark, a stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alh Usman Bibire Ajape, hailed Governor AbdulRazaq’s prudent management of the state’s resources.
