Management of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi (ATBU) has denied report that it will close the university over lack of power supply.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the Deutsch Welle Hausa Service reported that ATBU will shut down the institution over inability to bear the financial implications of settling monthly power bills.

The director of information and public relations of the university, Zailani Nappa disclosed this in a statement made available to reporters in Bauchi yesterday.

“The attention of the management of the university is drawn to fabricated news credited to the DW (Hausa) on where it mentioned that ATBU may close down due to economic hardship.

The management of the University categorically debunk this story from whatever source it was generated. In fact, nobody spoke to DW on behalf of the University nor issued out any information to that medium in this regard,” he said.

Bappa warned media organisations to be wary of information before publishing to the public.
