Atiku’s Aide Tackles Bwala, Alleges Rewriting History On Tinubu

Senior Special Assistant to former vice president Atiku Abubakar on public communication, Mr. Phrank Shaibu, has criticised presidential aide Daniel Bwala over his recent media interview, accusing him of attempting to rewrite his past criticisms of President Bola Tinubu while defending the current administration.

Shaibu, in a statement issued yesterday in Abuja, said Bwala’s remarks after the interview contradicted his earlier public statements about Tinubu and the government.

He alleged that Bwala, who once criticised Tinubu before later aligning with the administration, was now struggling to reconcile his past positions with his present role as a defender of the government.

According to Shaibu, Bwala had previously approached the Atiku media team requesting that a press statement be issued alleging that Tinubu and his associates were threatening his life.

“We remain in possession of a message he sent requesting that the Atiku media team issue a press statement claiming that President Tinubu and his associates were threatening his life,” Shaibu said, adding that the request was rejected because it was considered political theatrics.

He also faulted Bwala’s portrayal of the interview as a strong defence of the government, saying the exchange instead exposed contradictions between his past criticisms of Tinubu and his current position.

Shaibu added that when confronted with his previous statements about the president, Bwala dismissed them as “politics.”

Shaibu maintained that political actors must remain accountable for their past statements, insisting that public records would continue to reflect earlier positions taken on national issues. “History keeps records,” he said.
