The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) Alumni Association, Akure Chapter, has elected Comrade Awoyinfa Opeoluwa, popularly known as OPIANO, as its new chairman.
The election, described by stakeholders as transparent and credible, was keenly contested and ended in favour of Opeoluwa.
In a statement on Sunday, the alumni body commended his opponent, Comrade Ayodeji Ajibola Ibileye, for displaying sportsmanship and respect for the democratic process.
The Electoral Committee, chaired by Comrade Atolusi Damilola Anthony, was praised for conducting a process that upheld the integrity of the association.
The statement also recognised the role of Dr. Adesomoju Crown Olaitan, the Alumni Representative in Council, whose presence was said to have contributed to the success of the exercise.
Members of the alumni were urged to rally behind the new executive team and support initiatives that would promote unity, networking, and innovation within the body.
Opeoluwa was charged to consolidate on the momentum of the victory and ensure the Akure Chapter remains a vibrant platform for the university’s graduates.
