Ghana international André Ayew has affirmed that he has no immediate plans to retire from professional football.
Ayew, currently playing for NAC Breda in the Dutch League, told ESPN in an interview that he feels physically fit and is keen to continue enjoying his career.
“I never thought about it [retirement] because my body is good, I feel good,” Ayew explained. “I live my life day to day, so I prepare myself every time to have a better tomorrow on the field and off the field.
“I don’t think about that. When the moment comes, your body will tell you,” he added.
Ayew, whose extensive career includes spells in France’s Ligue 1, the English Premier League, and Turkey’s Süper Lig, firmly dismissed any suggestion of hanging up his boots. Despite holding a record 120 caps for the Black Stars, Ayew has not been called up to the national team since the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
