Nigerian popstar Arya Starr, born Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, has shared her battles with feelings of inadequacy, disclosing that an encounter with iconic singer, entrepreneur, and multiple Grammy Award winner Rihanna helped build her confidence.
She said this in a recent interview with W Magazine, noting that in 2024, she was grappling with low self-esteem before meeting the ‘Umbrella’ singer.
The multiple Grammy nominee disclosed that Rihanna spoke about parts of Ayra’s music videos she liked while they watched them together, noting that she showed openness to a collaboration.
“I was sitting with her while we watched my music videos. The fact that she was pointing out her favourite parts felt so unreal,” she remarked, stating that she was at the time struggling with self-image and confidence. “So that moment meant everything,” she said, adding that the multiple award-winning music Queen was God-sent and that the experience was one of the most amazing feelings.
