Babatunde Hails Elder Statesman Abegunde On 70th Birthday, Installation As Asiwaju Of Akure

A wave of admiration and well-wishes has poured in as one of Ondo State’s most revered leader, Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde, popularly known as ‘For the People’, marks his 70th birthday anniversary alongside his recent installation as the Asiwaju of Akure Kingdom.

Dr. Samuel Babatunde, a mentee and longtime admirer of Hon. Abegunde, led the chorus of tributes in a heartfelt message celebrating the elder statesman’s life of service, leadership, and unwavering commitment to community development.

“Today, I humbly celebrate a man of noble sagacity, a mentor of immeasurable worth, and a true embodiment of selfless leadership,” Dr. Babatunde said in his tribute to Hon. Abegunde. “Your exemplary life continues to inspire and uplift countless others.”

Hon. Abegunde’s political career spans decades of impactful service, including his tenure in the House of Representatives and later as Secretary to the Ondo State Government. His leadership earned him the affectionate moniker ‘For the People’, a testament to his accessibility, dedication, and empathy toward the needs of ordinary citizens.

Currently serving as Executive Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Abegunde is widely recognised for spearheading initiatives that promote equitable development and empower marginalized communities throughout the Niger Delta region.

The elder statesman’s recent installation as the Asiwaju of Akure Kingdom by His Imperial Majesty, the Deji of Akure, has been hailed as a fitting acknowledgment of his enduring service and influence in the community. The honorary chieftaincy title signifies his new role as a leading figure and adviser in Akure’s traditional and civic affairs.
