As 2025 Olojo festival ended yesterday in Ile-Ife, a frontline governorship aspirant on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Omooba Dotun Babayemi, has charged Yoruba traditional rulers to organise Yoruba cultural sustenance summit.
He particularly appealed to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, to work with other stakeholders in the southwest, to organise a summit that would promote the core values inherent in Y
Babayemi equally enjoined government at all levels to form an alliance with the traditional institution with a view to turning Yoruba cultural artefacts, monuments, and festivals into tourism platforms.
While congratulating the Ooni of Ife, Oba Ogunwusi and the people of the ancient town on the celebration of this year’s annual Olojo festival, Babayemi noted that Yoruba as a race, is endowed with sophisticated rich culture but feared that unless its stories were sustained and continuously retold, generations to come would be left with little or nothing about it.
Meanwhile thousands of people converged on Ile-Ife on Saturday to witness the grand finale of the annual Olojo cultural festival laced with various cultural activities and display of cultural artifacts.
The climax was the appearance of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi wearing the special crown designed for the special day and appeasing the gods at Ogun, shrine in the ancient town.
