The Bashar Chiefdom Community Development Association (BACCODA) has commended Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang for reinstating His Royal Highness, Alhaji Abdullahi Idris, as the Rekna of Bashar in Wase Local Government Area.
In a statement signed by its president, Dr. Zakari Mohammed, and secretary, Alhaji Yunusa Aliyu Garba, the association described the governor’s decision as a demonstration of leadership, statesmanship and commitment to grassroots unity, cultural preservation and peaceful coexistence across Plateau State.
BACCODA said the reinstatement had restored confidence in the state’s traditional institutions and reflected the governor’s willingness to address the aspirations of the people.
“We, on behalf of the entire people of Bashar Chiefdom, extend our heartfelt commendation to Governor Caleb Mutfwang for this noble and unifying gesture,” the statement said.
According to the association, the reinstatement of the Rekna of Bashar represents “a triumph for justice, fairness and the collective desire of our people to sustain our cherished traditional institutions.”
It added that the decision underscored the governor’s readiness to prioritise communal harmony above political differences and would further strengthen peace-building efforts in Wase Federal Constituency and across Plateau State.
The association noted that Governor Mutfwang’s consultative approach to governance had continued to foster trust and mutual respect among the state’s diverse ethnic and religious communities.
BACCODA appealed to residents of Bashar Chiefdom and Wase Local Government Area to support their traditional rulers, maintain peace and public order, and continue backing the developmental initiatives of the Plateau State Government.
The association also reaffirmed its commitment to working with the state government, traditional institutions and the federal government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to promote sustainable development and improve the welfare of the people of Wase.
