Niger State governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has made a case for 13.5 percent derivation on the land and water for the hydro power supply to the country.
The state hosts four hydro power dams in Kainji, Jebba, Shiroro and Zungeru with over 5,000 megawatts installation capacity.
Bago made the demand when he received a delegation from the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) at the Government House, Minna.
He called for derivative revenue on the power generated from the dams.
He said the state needed “an increase in revenue to the state due to its vast land and resources ” adding that the state supplied 60 percent of Nigeria’s power supply but did not benefit from the derivation.
The governor who was emphatic on the contribution of the power generated from the state to the national economy, charged the commission to take the state into consideration to benefit from the 13.5 percnt derivation.
