Niger State government said it is expecting a certification by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), for the take-off and landing of all kinds of aircraft at the Minna Airport.
The assurance comes after Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has observed some faults on the rehabilitated runway.
In a press release by his chief press secretary Bologi Ibrahim, the governor said the certification is expected to be approved today.
He said the governor has contracted Dantata and Sawoe to fix the faults identified in the reconstruction of the runway at the Minna Airport.
The statement said the efforts of the state government are in preparation to host national and international guests expected to attend the forthcoming Green Economy Summit in Minna, slated for the 24th and 25th of October, 2023.
Ibrahim said the repairs by Dantata and Sawoe have already attained 80 per cent completion and will soon be completed.
It will be recalled that the governor alongside the managing director of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Kabir Yusuf Muhammad and the chairman of the House Committee on Aviation Abdullahi Idris Garba inspected the newly reconstructed runway at the Minna Airport last week.
At the inspection, the governor expressed dismay at the lapses in the repairs on the runway and described the quality of the project as shabby, hence he intervened to fix it.
