Governor of Kebbi State Abubakar Atiku Bagudu has donated the sum of N20 million to the state leadership of the Nigerian Legion.
The governor also pledged to continue to uplift the wellbeing of widows of the fallen heroes under the chapter.
Bagudu made the donation and the pledge at this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day and Emblem annual appeal funds held at Haliru Abdu Stadium in Birnin Kebbi.
He commended the sacrifice of the troops alive especially in the fight against the insurgency, banditry and other criminal activities in the state and the country.
The governor who reviewed the parade also laid a wreath in honour of the departed soldiers noting that Kebbi State and Nigeria would not forget the sacrifice made by the fallen heroes.
While receiving the donation, the new chairman of the state chapter of Legion, Garba Hassan Suru commended the governor for the gesture and said that from the available records, the chapter has been receiving similar amount from the governor since the inception of his administration.
