Six security personnel of the Zamfara State Community Protection Guards (CPG) as well as four members of the vigilante group, popularly known as ‘Yan Sakai’, were reportedly killed by armed bandits in an ambush around Bagega Forest in Anka local government area the state.
LEADERSHIP gathered that the incident occurred on Saturday night when a joint military taskforce raided terrorists’ hideouts at Sukai Forest in the local government area.
According to the report, three others security guards were still missing while several others sustained various degrees of injuries.
The three missing persons include two members of the Community Protection Guards and one local vigilante.
Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal who confirmed the incident via his Facebook account, said that the operation also resulted to the killing of many terrorists and recovery of large cache of weapons from the bandits’ den.
The Governor also directed additional deployment of troops to the affected areas, and ordered that emergency reliefs be extended to the injured persons and the families affected by the attack.
