Suspected bandits killed a 120-year-old woman and five others, burnt houses and took away livestock in Sokoto on Tuesday.
Sources told our correspondent yesterday that the bandits invaded Raka community in Tangaza local government area leaving behind sorrow and anguish.
District head of Raka, Sa’idu Wakili, said, “Though no one was kidnapped, the bandits killed six people including the aged woman, burnt down two thirds of the houses within the community, looted food items and rustled cattle.”
He urged residents of the area to seek Allah’s quick intervention to restore peace and appealed to the state and federal governments to intensify efforts to address the security challenges in the area.
The acting chairman of Tangaza local government council, Ibrahim Lawal Junju, accompanied by the special adviser on road maintenance, Engr. Mai Damma Tangaza, commiserated with the community.
They described the attacks as unfortunate and promised to forward their findings to the government for necessary assistance to the victims.
